Privacy Policy

Who we are

promptctl (“we”) is the CLI and web product at prompt-ctl.com. The site and Try (in-browser enhance) service are operated by the promptctl maintainers.

Data we collect

• Try (web): If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email and a stable identifier from the provider. We use them to enforce the free-try limit (e.g. 10 tries per account) and to respond to support.
• Try usage: The text you submit for “Get structured prompt” is sent to our enhance API and to the underlying LLM provider (e.g. Claude). We do not use your prompt text for training our own models.
• Website: We use Google Analytics only if you accept cookies. That may include IP, device/browser info, and pages visited. You can reject analytics in the cookie banner.
• Donations: If you use Buy Me a Coffee or GitHub Sponsors, their privacy policies apply; we do not receive your payment details.

How we use data

We use account data to enforce Try limits and to troubleshoot. Analytics help us improve the site. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Third parties

Sign-in is via Google and GitHub (their privacy policies apply). The site and API may be hosted on Cloudflare. Analytics are provided by Google. LLM requests are processed by the provider you use (e.g. Anthropic).

Cookies

We set a cookie to remember your cookie-consent choice (accept or reject analytics). If you accept, Google Analytics may set additional cookies.

Retention and your rights

We keep Try account data for as long as needed to provide the service and enforce limits. You can ask us to delete your data or request more tries via Support.
